Free Meditation Event
Format: Free Seminar
Suitable for: Complete beginners, to experienced meditators welcome
Continuing Processional Development (CPD): 1.5 Hours
Meditation brings a sense of kindness to ourselves and others. As we focus in the present moment we stop getting lost in thoughts of the past and worries about the future. The more we practice simply coming into the present moment, calm our selves and reconnect to a sense of peace, the more we respond rather than react. We learn how to deal with life on its own terms.
You are welcome to bring friends and family, just let us know as seating is limited.
Taught by Liana Taylor, Clinical Psychologist, mindfulness specialist and principal teacher with the Australian Institute of Applied Mindfulness.
“A wonderful afternoon to enrich oneself and learn new skills” Jenni Douglas
Who is this for?
Everyone is welcome including:
• Complete beginners who would like to learn some new skills to help them relax, manage pain or just quieten the chatter of the mind
• More experienced meditators who would like to reconnect with their meditation practice, and health professionals who want to deepen their understanding
• Psychologists, social workers and other health professionals can develop, integrate and further understand the experience and application of a number of therapeutic meditations
• Those who want to connect with like minded people
What you will learn
You will be led through a number of meditations and skills, and learn which meditations work better for you. These might include breath, sound, movement, the body, contemplation, mantra, the inner and outer senses, thoughts, mindfulness, loving kindness and visualization and more.
Most people sit on chairs for sitting meditation, though you are welcome to bring a meditation cushion.
How does it work?
Liana will share information about meditation and teach meditations relevant to the needs and experience levels of people attending.
If you are a health professional this workshop comprises 1.5 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and you will receive a certificate of attendance.
Course numbers are strictly limited to support rich interactive learning.
The Mindfulness Centre has offered free meditation events, and paid courses for a decade.
With great joy, Liana will now be teaching these through the much anticipated
Australian Institute of Applied Mindfulness.
